Banner University Medical Center Opens Tucson Outpatient Facility

Banner University Medical Center opened its $100 million outpatient center in Tucson in December of 2017. Designed to optimize accessibility and convenience, the three-story, 208,000-sf facility accommodates multiple disciplines on each floor, enabling patients to see several physicians on a single visit. The project also offers diagnostic labs, imaging suites, and spacious 750-sf operating rooms to enable medical students to view procedures. Ground was broken on the project in May of 2016.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Constructs Odessa School of Medicine

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is constructing a $22 million academic building for the School of Medicine in Odessa. Located on the Permian Basin campus, the two-story, 51,000-sf facility will provide large and small classrooms, faculty offices, seminar rooms, a conference center, and research space. Designed by FKP Architects, the project will initially provide 4,000 sf of lab space with an additional 2,000 sf to accommodate future growth.

Xavier University and TriHealth Break Ground on Health United Building

Xavier University and TriHealth broke ground in December of 2017 on the Health United Building in Cincinnati. Designed by MSA Architects, the four-story, 160,300-sf project will include a 104,400-sf fitness and recreation center with a four-lane pool, three exercise studios, three basketball courts, a gym, and a café.

University at Buffalo Opens Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

The University at Buffalo opened the $375 million Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in December of 2017 on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. Designed by HOK, the collaborative 628,000-sf complex offers active learning environments, a surgical robotics center, simulation training suites, a gross anatomy lab, administrative and departmental offices, and 150,000 sf of flexible, multidisciplinary laboratories.

University of Maryland Medical System Breaks Ground on Capital Region Medical Center

The University of Maryland broke ground in November of 2017 on the $543 million Capital Region Medical Center in Largo. The 11-story, 600,000-sf project will provide 205 private inpatient rooms, a 45-bay emergency department, eight operating rooms, a 20-bed observation and treatment area, and two rooftop helipads. The teaching hospital will also include a cancer center and a 15-bed specialty pediatric facility. Occupancy is expected in March of 2021.
