Kansas State University Builds Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation

Kansas State University is constructing the Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation in Manhattan to advance agricultural science and education. Designed by Clark & Enersen, the $210 million project includes the construction of a 140,000-gsf structure and the renovation of Carl Hall and Weber Hall, creating a vibrant integrated complex. Approximately 30 percent of the space in the new facility will be allocated for collaboration between public and private partners to accelerate the generation of novel solutions to pressing global challenges.

AstraZeneca Opens Rockville Cell Therapy Facility

AstraZeneca opened a $300 million cell therapy facility in May of 2025 in Rockville, Md. Developed by Alexandria Real Estate Equites, the 84,264-rsf building features specialized environments for the production of chimeric antigen receptor therapies (CAR-T) and T-cell receptor therapies (TCR-T). Next-generation biomanufacturing suites will leverage advanced process controls to create life-saving personalized medicine treatments, spanning every step from culturing and formulation to testing.

Wexford and UC Davis Inaugurate Aggie Square in Sacramento

The University of California, Davis celebrated the opening of a $1.1 billion destination for collaborative discovery in May of 2025 in Sacramento. Spanning 767,000 sf, the first phase of Aggie Square was designed by ZGF Architects as the flagship for a new model of innovation district that strategically collocates academic, industry, and community partners not only in the same building, but in many cases on the same floor.

University of Delaware Opens Science and Innovation Facility

The University of Delaware opened a $180 million science and innovation facility in April of 2025 to catalyze interdisciplinary discovery and expand educational capacity. Built on the former site of McKinley Hall in Newark, the 132,500-sf building houses research and teaching labs with damp and dry functionalities, faculty offices and student workspaces, and conference rooms. Standing three stories above grade, the structure’s basement level accommodates an extension of UD’s Bio-Imaging Center, physics labs, and areas for the fabrication of advanced materials.
