Published 12/13/2001

The University of Connecticut’s ocean-front Avery Point campus on Long Island Sound recently dedicated the University’s new Marine Sciences building. The 140,000-sf structure, designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative of Glastonbury, Conn., contains research and teaching labs (including four “clean” chemistry labs), support facilities, offices, conference and seminar spaces, saltwater fluid dynamics labs, computer labs, and classrooms. Dedicated to marine technology, public-private partnership, and multi-institutional collaboration, the building will serve as home base for a variety of federal and state programs and organizations.
