Tufts University recently dedicated the $65-million Jaharis Center for Biomedical and Nutrition Research Center, located next to Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. The 180,000-sf center will provide research facilities for the study of immunogenetics and genetic links between nutrition and disease. Collaborative research with Tufts-New England Medical Center on the connection of nutrition to stroke in elderly people will also occur in the center, commissioned by a $6.6-million, five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health. Designed by ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge, the facility will accommodate 500 faculty members. Initial work on the facility was funded by $25-million in grants from federal, state, and nonprofit entities.
