Phoenix Controls Launches of Theris(TM) Airflow Control Solutions for Healthcare Applications

Published 3/9/2008

Phoenix Controls Corporation, a Honeywell International business, announced in March of 2008 the introduction of a new family of precision airflow control products designed specifically for the HVAC needs of Healthcare facilities. Branded the Theris™ family of valves, this product line brings new value to healthcare engineers and includes features that conserve energy, reduce maintenance, and increase infection control. The announcement comes at a time when healthcare facilities around the nation are struggling to meet the conflicting requirements of lower airflow for energy conservation and higher airflow for the control of airborne pathogens. Theris is designed to achieve both using lower airflow. Theris valves control air volume and directional airflow in the critical spaces of healthcare facilities, such as isolation rooms, operating rooms, in-hospital pharmacies, and patient rooms designed for pandemic events. Theris meets all national and state healthcare engineering regulatory requirements set forth by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) guidelines. Available with a product platform that is competitive with traditional terminal boxes, Theris is ideal for both constant volume (CV) and variable air volume (VAV) applications where stable directional airflow into or out of the space is critical. In VAV flow-tracking applications especially, the controller maintains an offset between the volume of air supplied into and exhausted from a space to ensure stable room pressurization and directional airflow.
