The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point opened the $75 million Chemistry Biology Building in September of 2018. The four-story, 176,500-sf facility was designed by HOK and Potter Lawson to put science on display and provides 58 research and teaching labs. The building offers flexible instructional spaces for STEM programs including two 98-seat lecture halls, three 48-seat classrooms, and two 24-seat classrooms. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the facility, which is expected to use 40 percent less energy and 26 percent less water than a comparable conventional structure. The project features advanced building systems, abundant natural light, bioswales, rain gardens, a tropical conservatory, and a green roof. Miron Construction broke ground on the facility in May of 2016. Phoenix Controls provided all fume hood controls and critical airflow controls throughout the building.
