DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and Leggat McCall Properties are building a Class-A laboratory building in Somerville, Mass. The nine-story, 289,000-sf facility will provide leading-edge research and office space for life sciences and technology companies. The mixed-use development will include dedicated retail space on the ground floor and four levels of underground parking. The project team includes architectural firms Spagnolo Gisness & Associates and Hashim Sarkis Studios, general contractor Shawmut Design & Construction, and leasing agent Cushman & Wakefield. Construction began on the building in July of 2019 and completion is expected by summer of 2021. The facility is part of a planned work/live/play district that will offer over one million square feet of commercial and residential space including community arts venues and public green areas.
