Boston University opened the $305 million Center for Computing & Data Sciences in early 2023 to create a dynamic new home for the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, and the Computer Science program. Designed by KPMB Architects, the 19-story, 345,000-sf structure comprises a four-story podium topped by 13 floors, with MEP systems located on additional basement and penthouse levels. The highly sustainable building offers vertically integrated research venues, a business incubator, learning labs, classrooms, meeting rooms, administrative offices, and a soaring atrium with a collaboration ramp.

Supporting BU's Climate Action Plan, the LEED Platinum development operates without using fossil fuels or generating carbon emissions by utilizing advanced HVAC infrastructure, heat recovery technologies, extensive glazing, and sophisticated shading mechanisms. A geothermal system with 31 boreholes drilled 1,500 feet below the earth's surface provides over 300 tons of heating and cooling capacity. Eight green roofs capture rainwater and reduce the urban heat island effect while supplying outdoor settings for informal interaction.

Tour this groundbreaking structure when you attend the Research Facilities 2024 conference or the University Science and Engineering Facilities Spring 2024 conference.

Additionally, KPMB Architects, BR+A, and LeMessurier will present an in-depth session on the Center for Computing & Data Science at Tradeline's USEF 2024 spring conference.
