SSM Health is constructing Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to replace an existing facility in St Louis. Designed by HKS and The Lawrence Group, the $600 million building promises to redefine pediatric care through leading-edge medical technologies, therapeutic healing environments, and sophisticated research capabilities, improving patient outcomes and driving clinical innovation.

Providing over 200 beds, the 505,092-sf structure will house advanced pediatric and cardiovascular intensive care units, a new bone marrow transplant unit, and a dedicated dialysis unit, as well as cancer treatment services. Additional program elements include larger operating rooms and recovery areas. Private rooms with windows in intensive care spaces will enhance patient comfort, and expanded zones to accommodate parents, siblings, and extended support networks will promote family engagement.

Expanding access to high-quality care for children throughout the region and beyond, the 14-story hospital is slated for occupancy in late 2027. McCarthy Building Companies is the design-build construction manager, with Henderson Engineers as MEP/FP engineer and TIE Consulting as technology solutions provider.
