Nevada Cancer Institute Builds Research Facility
The Nevada Cancer Institute is building the 183,378-sf Ralph and Betty Engelstad Cancer Research Building in Las Vegas. Slated for completion in late 2009, the $63 million, three-story facility will house 36 laboratories, including a core clinical research lab. The project team includes developer American Nevada Corp. and construction manager The Korte Co.
University of Iowa Constructs Institute for Biomedical Discovery
The University of Iowa is constructing the $120 million Institute for Biomedical Discovery in Iowa City. Located next to the Carver Biomedical Research Building, the 200,000-sf facility will house laboratories for biomedical, life science, and stem cell research. The project broke ground in September of 2007 and will include the $25 million Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center.
Stanford Builds Huang Engineering Center
Stanford University is constructing the 130,000-sf Jen-Hsun Huang School of Engineering Center in Stanford, Calif. Slated for completion in the second quarter of 2010, the facility will house administrative offices, a conference center, a student commons, a library, and a café. Designed by BOORA Architects of Portland, Ore., the sustainably-built project is the second of four buildings that will create a new Science and Engineering Quad.
Gilbert Hospital Plans Patient Tower
Gilbert Hospital is planning to construct a patient tower on its campus in Gilbert, Ariz. The expansion will house 20 inpatient beds, eight ICU beds, a cardiac catheterization lab, imaging, and surgery. Construction is expected to begin by March of 2009.
Napa Valley College Builds Performing Arts Center
Napa Valley College is constructing a 48,000-sf performing arts instructional center in Napa, Calif. Designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, the facility includes a 550-seat theater, a black box theater, offices, a recital venue, and rehearsal spaces. Completion is expected in spring of 2010.
