Florida International University Breaks Ground on Academic Medical Center
Florida International University (FIU) broke ground in May of 2026 on the Helen and Jacob Shaham Academic Medical Center in Miami. Designed by Stantec, the 163,000-sf project represents a partnership with Baptist Health South Florida that includes both the development and operation of the facility.
Micron Expands Memory Manufacturing Campus in Boise
Micron Technology is constructing a next-generation memory manufacturing complex in Boise, Idaho. The $50 billion investment will create two linked high-volume fabrication facilities that will each offer 600,000 sf of cleanroom space, flanked by wings on either side for supporting equipment, over the next 20 years.
University of Kentucky Opens Martin-Gatton Agricultural Sciences Building
The University of Kentucky opened a $60 million teaching facility for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment in May of 2026 in Lexington. Designed by BHDP to support both traditional pedagogies and interdisciplinary learning opportunities, the modernized and expanded building offers 18 classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, and focus spaces. Dedicated collaboration zones are complemented by informal gathering areas such as a kitchen and a café to promote interaction and intellectual engagement.
Henry Ford Health Constructs Destination: Grand in Detroit
Henry Ford Health is constructing a campus expansion and modernization project known as Destination: Grand in Detroit to advance medical excellence. Shaped by the collective architectural vision of HDR, Hamilton Anderson Associates, and DLR Group | Tsoi Kobus Design, the $2.2 billion facility will leverage interactive smart technologies including AI and autonomous mobile robots to transform the delivery of next-generation treatment.
Alice L. Walton Foundation Plans New STEM University
The Alice L. Walton Foundation is planning to establish a new STEM-focused university in Bentonville, Ark. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Polk Stanley Wilcox, the 422,000-sf campus will be built on the former site of the Walmart Home Office and will encompass a trio of leading-edge buildings. A makerspace spanning 130,614 sf will drive discovery while showcasing physical experimentation and rapid prototyping to the wider community.
