AREVA Plans Bonneville Uranium Enrichment Plant
AREVA is planning to build a $2 billion uranium enrichment plant in Bonneville County, Idaho. AREVA, based in France, will build the facility near Idaho National Laboratory on a site 18 miles west of Idaho Falls. The plant, which will employ 250 staff, will begin construction by 2011 with completion slated for 2014.
LEVELROCK Sound Board For LEED Credits
USG has announced that the recycled content of its LEVELROCK™ brand SRB™ sound reduction board and LEVELROCK SRM-25™ sound reduction mat can help architects and designers qualify for LEED® credits from the U.S. Green Building Council. SRB sound board has a recycled content of 49.7 percent, of which 17.0 percent is post- consumer material. SRM-25 sound mat is manufactured with a typical recycled content of 15.0 percent, 100 percent of which is pre-consumer/post-industrial material.
National Interagency Biodefense Campus Completes Central Utility Plant
The National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIBC) has completed construction of a $100 million central utility plant at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. The project provides continuous steam, chilled water, electricity, and standby emergency power for NIBC's biocontainment laboratories. The plant is operated by Chevron Energy Solutions who also designed and built the facility.
Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Opens Perinatal Facility
Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital completed the 8,700-sf Maternal-Fetal Medicine Diagnostic Treatment and Research Center (MFM) in Loma Linda, Calif., in May of 2008. Designed by gkkworks and built by Turner Construction, the project involved extensive renovations to the 11-story hospital’s third floor to create a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management center for high risk pregnancies.
University of Minnesota Develops Research Facilities
The University of Minnesota is developing a $292 million biomedical research park in Minneapolis. The project includes the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research, slated for completion in summer of 2010; the Cancer Biomedical Research and the Lillehei Biomedical Research buildings, to be completed in 2012; and the Infectious Disease and Neuroscience Biomedical Research Building, slated for completion in 2013.
