Banner-University Medical Center Plans Tucson Inpatient Tower

Banner-University Medical Center is planning to begin construction in early 2016 on a $400 million inpatient tower in Tucson. Designed by Shepley Bulfinch and GLHN Architects and Engineers, the 11-story, 689,000-sf facility will initially provide 240 private patient rooms, with two floors of shell space to accommodate 96 additional beds as needed. The project will also include 22 operating rooms, advanced imaging suites, and public areas.

University of Glasgow Plans Imaging Centre of Excellence

The University of Glasgow began construction in fall of 2015 on the $25 million Imaging Centre of Excellence at the South Glasgow Hospitals Campus in Scotland. Designed by BMJ Architects, the project includes redevelopment of an existing building to provide advanced medical research space for neurological and cardiovascular conditions and will feature a 7-Tesla clinical MRI scanner.

Portland State University Plans Viking Pavilion and Education Center

Portland State University will break ground in January of 2016 on the Viking Pavilion and Education Center. The $32 million project includes construction of a 3,100-seat venue for public events and renovation of the existing Peter W. Stott Center to provide 30,000 sf of classroom and study space for programs in health and exercise science.

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Opens Clinical Sciences Pavilion

Cincinnati Children's Hospital opened the $205 million Clinical Sciences Pavilion in June of 2015. The 15-story, 445,000-sf translational research tower will house over 1,500 scientists, clinicians, and staff engaged in the application of medical discoveries to patient care. The facility features a three-story atrium, a clinical trials center, advanced imaging suites, and laboratories and offices arranged in research neighborhoods to foster interaction and collaboration. Construction began on the pavilion in 2012.

Tyler Junior College Opens Nursing and Health Sciences Center

Tyler Junior College completed construction of the $47.5 million Robert M. Rogers Nursing & Health Sciences Center in May of 2015. Tripling available healthcare instructional space, the 137,000-sf facility features flexible teaching labs and classrooms as well as a dental clinic and a campus health center. SmithGroupJJR provided architectural and engineering services for the facility in collaboration with Eubanks Harris Roberts CraigHGR+Turner was the construction manager-at-risk.
