Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Expands in Fayetteville

Cape Fear Valley Health System has awarded Skanska USA Building Inc. the construction management services assignment to build an addition to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville , N.C. The 300,000-sf, $90 million project consists of a patient care tower including an emergency department; inpatient imaging; a heart and vascular center; a 24-bed critical care unit; a 48-bed medical surgical unit; and mechanical support. Also included will be a parking deck for 500 cars and 50,000 sf of renovations to the existing hospital.

Aisin Light Metals Completes Production Facility

Aisin Light Metals has completed a $5.8-million facility in Marion , Ill. Designed by Musset Nicholas & Associates of Indianapolis , the 129,600-sf building will accommodate the production of components and systems for the automotive industry. The general contractor for the project was Doster Construction working with venture partner Zeller Construction of Wichita .

Centene Corp. Opens Processing Center in Great Falls

Centene Corp., a provider of managed care programs services, is planning to open a 50,000-sf processing facility on 25 acres in Great Falls , Mont. The first stage of the project describes the completion of an 8,000-sf temporary facility in November 2004 with the permanent structure scheduled to open in July 2005. The initial cost of the project is estimated at $7 million.

California Academy of Sciences Opens San Francisco Museum

The California Academy of Sciences has opened its new transitional museum facility in San Francisco . While the permanent facility in Golden Gate Park undergoes a major renovation, the museum has relocated to 875 Howard Street . The new museum offers two floors of exhibit space with a 20,000-gallon, two-story coral reef tank, an aquarium housing thousands of live animals, an interactive learning center, and a new natural history exhibit. The interior build-out includes five stories of administration, research and storage facilities.
