Harvard Medical School Opens Conference Center
Harvard Medical School has officially opened its new 8,500-sf conference center in Boston, Mass. Sited in the school’s 525,000-sf New Research Building, the facility features a 480-seat amphitheater, seven meeting rooms, and a café.
Veritas Develops Newton R&D Facility
Veritas Software Corp. has selected J. Calnan & Associates as construction manager for its new $1.2 million, 40,000-sf research, development, and office facility in Newton, Mass.
Celestica Expands in Raleigh
Celestica has relocated within the city of Raleigh from 26,000 sf to 70,000 sf at the Globe Center Corporate Park. Celestica, a manufacturer of products for technology companies on an outsource basis, will house operations including printed circuit assembly, systems assembly, engineering design, and sales in the facility. The relocation project entailed a $2-million investment.
Maxim Purchases San Antonio Semiconductor Fabrication Facility
Maxim Integrated Products has purchased a San Antonio warehouse formerly occupied by Phillips Semiconductors for $40 million. The 330,000-sf facility is sited on a 168-acre campus and features a submicron 8-inch wafer fab able to produce eight million components annually. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Maxim expects to resume production of silicon wafers in the new facility by year-end 2004.
CDC Leases DeKalb County Facilities
The General Services Administration has leased 97,785-sf for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in DeKalb County, Ga. The CDC will house its epidemiology program and two Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry divisions in the Century Center facility.
