University of Missouri Constructs Basketball Arena

The University of Missouri has selected J.E. Dunn Construction Co. as general contractor for its $59-million basketball arena in Columbia. Designed by CDFM2 Architecture, the 380,000-sf arena will contain over 15,000 seats, 25 box suites, a player development area with two locker rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and sauna, and new athletic department offices. Construction began on Feb. 10, 2003 and is slated for completion by Nov. 1, 2004.

Carltas Develops Agricultural Biotech Park in Encinitas

Carltas Development Co. of Carlsbad is planning to construct a 125,000-sf master-planned biotechnology business park on a 10-acre site in the Paul Ecke Ranch in Encinitas, Calif. Designed by McGraw/Baldwin Architects of San Diego, the project will house office, research, and laboratory space. General contractor Good & Roberts of Vista may begin construction as early as summer of 2003.

UCSF Leases Office Near Mission Bay

The University of California, San Francisco has leased 66,000 sf of office space in San Francisco for its Medical Center finance and strategy group. UCSF is consolidating Medical Center finance operations at the new location, chosen for its proximity to the University's new Mission Bay campus.

Facilities and transportation engineering firm URS Corp. has leased 36,000 sf at Northpark Town Center in Atlanta. URS is vacating space at Corporate Campus in Alpharetta, at Peachtree Center North Tower, and at a small office in Tucker to consolidate operations in Atlanta.

Kaiser Santa Clara Leases Medical Office Space

Kaiser Permanente of Santa Clara, Calif., will house outpatient behavioral medicine, chemical dependency services and administrative functions in 100,000 sf of recently leased space in Cupertino. Located near Kaiser's new $800-million hospital in Santa Clara, the facility will feature large meeting rooms.
