CPU Technologies Expands Pleasanton Operations
CPU Technologies Inc. has leased 41,447-sf in the Hacienda Business Park in Pleasanton to house its primary engineering and manufacturing operations. The site, which will employ 130, is in addition to CPU’s existing R&D facility in Pleasanton.
Sun Microsystems Expands Newark Campus
Sun Microsystems Inc. has selected architect Bottom Duvivier and project manager Kaplan McLauglin Diaz to complete Phase III of its Newark campus expansion. Six two- and three-story office buildings will be constructed by DPR Construction of San Jose. The project began in September of 2000 and is slated for completion in June of 2002.
Shire Laboratories Plans Montgomery County Expansion
Shire Laboratories is seeking a Montgomery County location for a planned large-scale manufacturing facility. The expansion may also include lab and office space. Currently operating out of 45,000 sf in Rockville, Shire Laboratories is an advanced pharmaceutical drug delivery company owned by Shire UK.
University of Maryland Breaks Ground on Dental School
The University of Maryland has broken ground on its $124-million, 360,000-sf Baltimore dental school. The building is slated for occupancy in 2005.
Zhone Technologies Builds Corporate Headquarters
Zhone Technologies has selected architects Fee Munson Ebert and Ibsen/Senty Architecture to design its corporate headquarters and R&D facility in Oakland, Calif. SRM Associates of Oakland will act as general contractor and project manager for the $54.5-million, 180,000-sf facility. Construction began in January 2000 and is slated for completion in March 2002.
