Franklin Square North Developed in D.C.

Franklin Square North is being developed in Washington by Monument Realty. The freestanding 269,000-sf building will cost $70- to $75-million to build and will be marketed to both government and private sectors. Housing 16,000-sf of retail space, the 12-story facility is one of five buildings under construction in the District of Columbia slated for delivery in 2003. Designed by project architect Davis Carter Scott, the building will be constructed by general contractor James G. Davis Construction.

Genesis Health System Builds New Heart Institute

Genesis Health System has simultaneously expansionded inpatient care in Davenport, Iowa, with four additional cath labs and a new freestanding Heart Institute. The new building features a three-story lobby and joins the hospital via a glass-walled walkway. The building, designed by Madison, Wis.-based Flad & Associates and constructed by Estes Company of Davenport, houses state-of-the-art technology for diagnosis and treatment.  The $11-million, 80,000-sf project was completed in fall of 2001.

Southwestern College Develops Education Village

Southwestern College is building a $22-million project referred to as Education Village on  3.3 acres purchased from the Community Development Commission. The National City project is part of a collaboration of Southwestern and San Diego State University (SDSU) to provide lower level courses for students transferring from Southwestern to SDSU. The development will consist of two buildings totalling 72,000 sf. The 25,000-sf building will house the San Diego County Office of Education.
