University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Approves Master Plan
The University of Carolina at Chapel Hill approved a new campus master plan in summer of 2019. Focusing on renovation and renewal of existing facilities, the plan will support the creation of mixed-use environments, new transportation resources, and the leveraging of physical assets for innovative and efficient uses. Three guiding principles are shaping UNC's campus renewal:
Colorado State University Plans National Western Center Campus
Colorado State University will break ground in early 2020 on the $200 million National Western Center Campus in Denver. The 250-acre site will be redeveloped to house three new buildings accommodating research and experiential education programs on global issues including water, food, sustainability, and human and animal health.
Wexford Science+Technology Opens Providence Innovation Center
Wexford Science+Technology opened the $88 million Wexford Innovation Center in July of 2019 in Providence, R.I. Designed by Ayers Saint Gross, the seven-story, 202,000-sf building will accommodate tenants including Brown University's School of Professional Studies, the Cambridge Innovation Center, Johnson & Johnson, the Venture Café, and The Boston Globe. Interior improvements valued at $17 million were performed for the Cambridge Innovation Center's facilities.
University of Lincoln Plans Medical School
The University of Lincoln will begin construction in fall of 2019 on the £21 million Lincoln Medical School in the United Kingdom.
University of Illinois at Chicago Opens Academic and Residential Complex
The University of Illinois at Chicago opened the $100 million Academic and Residential Complex in August of 2019. Representing a public-private partnership with American Campus Communities, the project includes a two-story, 54,000-sf academic building providing collaboration spaces, small group study rooms, a tutoring center, and seven technology-rich classrooms for interactive learning, one of which can accommodate 288 students.
