D'Youville College Plans Health Professions Hub

D'Youville College is planning to build a $20 million health professions hub in Buffalo, N.Y. The three-story, 46,000-sf facility will provide a community clinic, classrooms, a virtual learning center, conference rooms, and a two-story, 200-seat amphitheater. Supporting the delivery of interdisciplinary, team-based care, the project will be the first clinic in the nation to include all the health professions in a single location.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Constructs Odessa School of Medicine

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is constructing a $22 million academic building for the School of Medicine in Odessa. Located on the Permian Basin campus, the two-story, 51,000-sf facility will provide large and small classrooms, faculty offices, seminar rooms, a conference center, and research space. Designed by FKP Architects, the project will initially provide 4,000 sf of lab space with an additional 2,000 sf to accommodate future growth.

Xavier University and TriHealth Break Ground on Health United Building

Xavier University and TriHealth broke ground in December of 2017 on the Health United Building in Cincinnati. Designed by MSA Architects, the four-story, 160,300-sf project will include a 104,400-sf fitness and recreation center with a four-lane pool, three exercise studios, three basketball courts, a gym, and a café.

Duke University Constructs Nursing Facility

Duke University began site work in December of 2017 on a new home for the School of Nursing in Durham, N.C. Designed to deliver an instructional model of patient-centered care across multiple medical disciplines, the five-story, 102,000-sf building will house a simulation training center, faculty and administrative offices, the Center for Nursing Research, and the Duke Health Center for Interprofessional Education. The facility will also accommodate the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

St. Louis Community College Builds Center for Nursing & Health Sciences

St. Louis Community College will break ground in March of 2018 on the $39 million Center for Nursing & Health Sciences. Designed by KAI Design & Build to accommodate 11 health programs under one roof, the four-story, 96,000-sf facility will offer teaching labs, classrooms, flexible learning spaces, and a dental clinic. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which is slated for completion in fall of 2019.
