AAON Constructs Tulsa Research Lab

AAON Inc. is building a $26 million research facility in Tulsa, Okla. Standing 75 feet tall, the three-story, 75,000-sf project will provide acoustics and performance testing labs for the optimization of AAON's outdoor and indoor air handling units and mechanical rooms for commercial, industrial, and academic environments. Completion is expected in mid-2017. The facility is located behind AAON's new 66,000-sf automated manufacturing center, which will begin operations in late 2016.

University of Missouri-St. Louis Opens Science Learning Building

The University of Missouri–St. Louis opened the $35 million Science Learning Building in November of 2016. Designed by Christner, the four-story, 75,000-sf facility features 18 technology-rich teaching labs, seven study areas, a café, and a solarium town center connecting to the adjacent science complex. General contractor K&S Associates broke ground on the sustainably designed project in October of 2013.

Texas A&M University Plans Global Health Research Complex

Texas A&M University is planning to begin construction in January of 2017 on the $86 million Global Health Research Complex in College Station. The 102,000-sf biocontainment facility will provide advanced laboratories for the study of infectious agents and diseases in plants, animals, and humans. Supporting collaboration within the A&M System, the project will collocate biomedical, veterinary, engineering, and environmental science research in a single complex to create innovative strategies for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Grand Valley State University Constructs Health Professions Building

Grand Valley State University will begin construction in December of 2016 on a $37.5 million facility for the College of Health Professions and the College of Nursing. Located in Grand Rapids, Mich., the five-story, 84,000-sf Finkelstein Hall will provide 15 teaching labs, four classrooms, two departmental suites, a computer lab, and 90 faculty and staff offices. The architect for the project is Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber and the construction manager is Rockford Construction. Completion is expected in May of 2018.

University of Nottingham Breaks Ground on Advanced Manufacturing Building

The University of Nottingham broke ground on the 97,000-sf Advanced Manufacturing Building in November of 2016 in the United Kingdom. G.F. Tomlinson was awarded the £16 million construction contract for the project, which will be built on a former brownfield site on the Jubilee Campus. Designed by Bond Bryan, the facility will provide the Faculty of Engineering with research labs and offices, teaching spaces, workshops, and an area for large-scale aerospace demonstrator components.
