BASF Opens Ludwigshafen Research Center
BASF opened a $55 million research center in July of 2015 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The 118,400-sf facility provides laboratories and offices for approximately 200 employees in the Advanced Materials & Systems Research division. The seven-story project is strategically sited between other research buildings to foster collaboration. The center, built using BASF’s innovative construction technologies, features high-performance insulation panels based on inorganic aerogel.
Colorado State University Plans Equine Veterinary Hospital
Colorado State University is planning to build the $47 million Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Family Equine Hospital in Fort Collins. The 180,000-sf project will provide advanced diagnostic and surgical services, and house eight biosecure isolation stalls for the treatment of horses with infectious diseases. Supporting 27 equine clinicians, the hospital will feature imaging technologies, including a high-resolution computed tomography (CT) scanner. A 3 Tesla MRI will be installed in a new CSU research building adjacent to the facility.
OhioHealth Opens Neuroscience Center
OhioHealth opened its $300 million Neuroscience Center in Columbus in July of 2015. Located on the campus of Riverside Methodist Hospital, the 10-story, 409,000-sf tower provides 224 private inpatient rooms, 11 procedure rooms, and a radiation therapy suite. Clinical space supports a dynamic collaboration between the disciplines of neuroscience, heart and vascular care, and oncology.
Abu Dhabi University Constructs Engineering Facility
Abu Dhabi University began building a $10 million egnineering facility in July of 2015. Designed to meet international teaching and research standards, the 99,000-sf addition will provide 30 laboratories for civil, mechanical, electrical, computer, and chemical engineering, as well as supporting programs in architecture, interior design, information technology, and aviation. The building will also house 12 classrooms, 110 faculty offices, and conference rooms. Occupancy is expected in August of 2016.
Quotient Clinical Opens Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities
Quotient Clinical has expanded its existing campus in Nottingham with the construction of 8,000 sf of laboratory space for pharmaceutical research, development, and analysis. Additionally, Quotient has acquired a 3,000-sf GMP manufacturing facility at the MediCity innovation hub in Nottingham. The lab provides eight production suites with integrated controls for high potency molecule containment and will begin operations in late 2015.
