Lycoming College Builds Lynn Science Center

Lycoming College is constructing the Lynn Science Center in Willliamsport, Pa. The three-story, 26,000-sf facility will provide teaching and research labs, classrooms, faculty offices, student lounges, an atrium, and a planetarium. Housing the departments of astronomy, biology, chemistry, and physics, the project is designed to foster interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration. The facility will be built adjoining the existing Heim Biology and Chemistry Building to provide almost 90,000 sf of instructional space.

Purdue Pharma Manufacturing Builds Durham Plant

Purdue Pharma Manufacturing will build a 188,000-sf production plant in the Treyburn Corporate Park in Durham, N.C. The project will provide cleanrooms with epoxy-coated floors, walls, and ceilings for the manufactucture of oral solid dosage products. The facility will also include offices, labs, conference rooms, and training areas. The general contractor is KBR Building Group. The facility is part of Purdue Pharma's planned $59 million investment in the Durham site over the next three years.

St. Joseph's Hospital Builds Syracuse Patient Tower

St. Joseph’s Hospital is building a $113 million patient tower in Syracuse, N.Y. Designed by King & King Architects, the 104,000-sf facility will provide 110 private rooms, a surgery center with 14 operating rooms, an ICU, and a central sterile services core. The project will also include family waiting rooms, staff training space, and support areas. Completion is expected in late 2014.

Indiana University and Ivy Tech Plan Arts and Sciences Building

Indiana University is partnering with Ivy Tech Community College to build the 133,500-sf Arts and Sciences building in Gary, Ind. Supported by $45 million in state funding, the shared three-story facility will accommodate IU Northwest's fine and performing arts programs as well as teaching labs for Ivy Tech's science curriculum. The project will also include a 500-seat performance venue, a black box theater, shared classrooms, meeting rooms, informal study space, and departmental and administrative offices. Occupancy is expected in 2017.

Pirbright Institute Builds Avian Diseases Lab

The Pirbright Institute broke ground in July of 2014 on the $26 million Avian Diseases Lab in the United Kingdom. The 38,000-sf facility will provide CL-2 biocontainment space for in vitro research on infectious diseases affecting poultry and other livestock. Housing up to 90 scientists, the project will support the relocation of the Avian Viral Diseases program from Compton to Pirbright.
