Rideout Memorial Hospital Expands in Marysville

Rideout Memorial Hospital will begin construction in October of 2011 on a $225 million expansion and renovation of its healthcare facility in Marysville, Calif. The project will add six floors and 215,000 sf to the existing hospital, creating a regional medical center with an expanded emergency room, a larger cancer center, and a rooftop helipad. The general contractor is Hilbers Inc. of Yuba City. The project will provide an additional 100 patient rooms and is being developed in partnership with U.C. Davis.

Fairleigh Dickinson University Breaks Ground on Monninger Center for Learning and Research

Fairleigh Dickinson University broke ground on the $20 million Monninger Center for Learning and Research in June of 2011. Located on the Florham campus in Madison, N.J., the new library center will include classrooms and a 100-seat lecture hall. The project includes construction of a two-story, 20,000-sf addition and renovation of the existing library. The Center for Learning and Research was designed by architect Michael Farewell as a sustainable facility with abundant daylighting and efficient building systems.

Southwestern University Plans Science Center

Southwestern University is planning to construct a new science center in Georgetown, Texas. The $24 million facility will feature advanced classrooms and research labs. The project includes renovation of the existing Fondren-Jones Science Building and construction of a 37,000-sf addition. The completed 100,000-sf facility will open in 2015.

Almac Group Opens North American Headquarters and Production Facility

Almac Group opened its $120 million North American headquarters and production facility in May of 2011. Located in Souderton, Pa., the 240,000-sf complex includes a three-story, 74,500-sf office building and a 165,600-sf facility for the production, analysis, and distribution of clinical trial supplies. The project team included Francis Cauffman Architects, Skanska USA Building, Genesis Engineering, and Barry Isett & Associates. Construction began in July of 2008.

Queen of the Valley Hospital Uses BIM to Build Acute Care Facility

Queen of the Valley Hospital is building a three-story, 72,000-sf acute care addition in Napa, Calif.  Wright Contracting of Santa Rosa is using BIM (Building Information Modeling) to construct the $65 million facility. Designed by CO Architects, the addition will house surgical suites and an intensive care unit. Occupancy is expected in 2013. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the project. Queen of the Valley Hospital is affiliated with St. Joseph Health System.
