Boise State University's Environmental Research Building Nears Completion
Boise State University will open the $25 million Environmental Research Building in summer of 2011. Designed by RBB of Los Angeles, the 98,000-sf project will house classrooms and labs for the departments of Geosciences, Civil Engineering, and Public Policy, Administration, and Political Science. Construction began on the facility in spring of 2009.
Site Work Begins on Seton Medical Center Harker Heights
Ground was broken in March of 2011 for the $100 million Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Bell County, Texas. The facility is a joint venture of LHP Hospital Group and the Seton Family of Hospitals. The 191,400-sf facility will provide 83 inpatient beds, emergency care, women’s services, obstetrics, cardiology, surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging, and intensive and critical care. Completion is expected in late 2012.
State of Louisiana Builds University Medical Center
The State of Louisiana will break ground in June of 2011 on the $1.2 billion University Medical Center in New Orleans. Designed by NBBJ, the project includes a 560,000-sf, 424-bed hospital, a 746,982-sf diagnosis and treatment center, and a 254,765-sf ambulatory care building. Preconstruction services will be provided by Skanska USA Building and MAPP Construction.
Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital Builds Replacement Facility
Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital began construction in March of 2011 on a $103 million replacement facility in Santa Barbara, Calif. Built by HBE Corp., the 148,000-sf facility will provide 44 private rooms, an expanded surgical suite, and an emergency department with 20 beds. The replacement hospital will meet state seismic safety regulations.
University of Edinburgh Completes Roslin Institute
The University of Edinburgh completed the new Roslin Institute in March of 2011. The $97 million project houses animal health research and education facilities including the Scottish Agricultural College and the Royal Veterinary School. Designed by HDR Architecture, the building reflects the shape of a chromosome with strands of offices interwoven with strands of laboratories, connected by conference rooms and interaction spaces. The new Roslin Institute includes a 250-seat auditorium, a library, and a freezer archive.
