Ameridose Opens Cleanroom Facility
Ameridose opened its 70,000-sf cleanroom in January of 2011 in Westborough, Mass. The facility will provide manufacturing space for sterile admixing preparations and pre-filled syringes. Exceeding USP 797 standards and meeting cGMP requirements, the project features condensing boilers, ultrasonic humidification, and 400 fan-powered HEPA filter units rated at 99.9 percent efficiency with motion sensor controls.
Danbury Hospital Builds North Tower
Danbury Hospital will break ground in spring of 2011 on the $150 million North Tower clinical addition in Danbury, Conn. The 300,000-sf project will enhance patient-centered care with private rooms, a 40,000-sf emergency department, and integrated healthcare services. The North Tower will also house a 30-bed ICU and critical care unit and a rooftop helipad. Completion is expected in 2014.
University of Michigan Constructs Nanotech Engineering Addition
The University of Michigan will begin construction in spring of 2011 on a 62,500-sf addition to the G.G. Brown Memorial Laboratories in Ann Arbor. The $46 million facility will house the Center of Excellence in Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering. Supported by $9.5 million in funding from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the three-story addition will house faculty and graduate student offices and 60 laboratory modules. The project architect is Perkins + Will. Completion is expected in late 2014.
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab Plans Solar Energy Research Center
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory will construct a $54.4 million a solar energy research center in Berkeley, Calif. The 21,471-sf, three-story lab and office building will accommodate research on materials science and biofuels. The sustainably designed facility will feature advanced lighting and building systems.
Miami Valley Hospital Opens Dayton Heart Tower
Miami Valley Hospital celebrated the opening of its 484,000-sf cardiac care tower in January of 2011. Located in Dayton, Ohio, the $150 million Southeast Addition was designed by NBBJ with Skanska USA Building and Shook Construction as joint construction manager. Ground was broken on the project in May of 2008. The 11-story tower features 178 private patient rooms, surgical suites, cardiac catheterization labs, and imaging.
