Stanford University School of Medicine Plans Center for Translational Research
Stanford University School of Medicine will begin construction in spring of 2011 on the $21 million Jill and John Freidenrich Center for Translational Research in Palo Alto, Calif. The three-story, 30,690-sf facility will house 250 cancer researchers and space for clinical trials. Occupancy is expected in August of 2012. The center was designed by WRNS Studio and will be built by Devcon Construction.
Fordham University Breaks Ground on School of Law
Fordham University broke ground on a $250 million facility in New York in February of 2011. The 22-story, 468,000-sf building will provide nine floors for the School of Law and thirteen residential floors. The project is located on Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus and will feature a two-story atrium, courtrooms, and a law library with 562,000 volumes. The general contractor is Mayrich Construction. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project. Completion is expected in 2014.
Loyola Opens Center for Health in Burr Ridge
Loyola University Health System will open the Loyola Center for Health in March of 2011 in Burr Ridge, Ill. The 100,000-sf outpatient facility will provide primary care, urgent care, rehabilitation services, and specialty care including neurology and orthopedics. Designed to maximize integration, the center will enable patients to get all their health services on a single visit with reduced waiting times.
Intel Plans Fab 42 in Chandler
Intel Corp. will begin construction in mid-2011 on the $5 billion Fab 42 in Chandler, Ariz. The facility will be the most advanced high-volume semiconductor manufacturing plant in the world and will produce microprocessors with 14-nanometer transistors. Completion is expected in 2013.
GlobalFoundries Builds Admin 2
GlobalFoundries will break ground in May of 2011 on the 221,000-sf Admin 2 in Malta, N.Y. The facility will be located in the Luther Forest Technology Campus adjacent to Fab 8. Admin 2 will accommodate up to 1,500 administrative employees and is slated for completion in August of 2012.
