Erie County Medical Center Plans Renal Care Addition

Erie County Medical Center will construct a $2.1 million addition to the Center of Excellence for Renal Disease and Transplant in Buffalo, N.Y. The project will expand the 18,000-sf facility to 25,000 sf and will provide 12 additional outpatient dialysis stations. Construction will begin in late 2010. The total project cost of the Center of Excellence for Renal Disease and Transplant is $24 million.

Community Health System of Tennessee Breaks Ground on Porter Hospital

Community Health System of Tennessee broke ground on the $225 million Porter Hospital in July of 2010 in Valparaiso, Ind. The five-story, 420,000-sf facility will provide approximately 240 beds. The site work contractor is Dyer Construction with Robins and Morton of Birmingham, Ala., as general contractor.

William Paterson University Completes Science Annex

William Paterson University completed construction of the 67,000-sf Science Annex in July of 2010 in Wayne, N.J. The facility houses an atrium, classrooms, lecture halls, 18 research labs, and 12 teaching labs. The technology-rich addition was designed by HOK to foster interaction and collaboration between faculty and students in the disciplines of biology, biotechnology, molecular research, physics, chemistry, physiology, environmental science, and ecology.

Vestas Wind Systems Opens Louisville R&D Center

Vestas Wind Systems A/S will open a 48,000-sf research and development office in Louisville, Colo. The Technology R&D Centre will initially house 100 employees. Vestas is a manufacturer of wind turbine blades based in Randers, Denmark.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Selects Johnson Controls as Outsourcing Provider

In an effort to improve operational efficiencies and standardize delivery models, Bristol-Myers Squibb has selected Johnson Controls as its outsourcing partner to manage multiple facilities throughout North America. The New York-based company selected Johnson Controls Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division to manage the day-to-day facility management of office sites, manufacturing facilities, and research and development laboratories.
