Washington University in St. Louis Opens Neuroscience Research Building

Washington University in St. Louis opened the $616 million Jeffrey T. Fort Neuroscience Research Building in January of 2024. Designed by Perkins&Will and CannonDesign, the 608,825-sf facility provides interactive lab neighborhoods where up to 120 teams can engage in collaborative discovery. An 11-story, 584,050-sf research tower is capable of accommodating up to 1,000 investigators from the departments of neurology, neuroscience, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and anesthesiology.

Mayo Clinic Plans Rochester Campus Redevelopment

Mayo Clinic is planning a $5 billion redevelopment and expansion of its healthcare campus in Rochester, Minn. Designed by Foster + Partners and CannonDesign, the strategic initiative will introduce new facilities that combine innovative care concepts and digital technologies to transform the patient experience, advance translational research, and improve outcomes. Comprising five new buildings, related infrastructure, and utilities, the project will provide a total of approximately 2.4 million sf of space.

Dixon Architecture, the 246,000-gsf facility will provide next-generation environments for programs in biology and chemistry.

University of Chicago Medicine broke ground in September of 2023 on an $815 million cancer center that will provide world-class environments for research and treatment. CannonDesign's architectural vision for the freestanding facility will radically elevate the patient experience by bringing together clinicians, investigators, and physician-scientists to optimize the delivery of team-based care.

University of Utah Breaks Ground on Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine

The University of Utah broke ground in October of 2022 on the $185 million Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. Designed by VCBO and Yazdani Studio of CannonDesign, the 185,000-sf facility will feature flexible learning studios that can be subdivided to accommodate a variety of class sizes. With integrated technologies to support hybrid and remote instruction, the highly collaborative structure will include a state-of-the-art simulation center and a modern gross anatomy lab.
