Northern Kentucky University Expands Herrmann Science Center

Northern Kentucky University is expanding and renovating the Dorothy Westerman Herrmann Science Center in Highland Heights. Designed by Omni Architects and Flad Architects, the $86 million facility will enhance the delivery of STEM+Health programs, accommodate growing enrollment, and drive regional workforce development. The addition of an 85,400-sf wing will consolidate several academic departments under one roof, including Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Physics, Geology & Engineering Technology.

Penn State Health Opens Cancer Facility at Hampden Medical Center

Penn State Health opened a comprehensive cancer facility in October of 2025 at Hampden Medical Center in Enola. Designed by Flad Architects, the 40,250-sf building consolidates three West Shore locations to ensure the streamlined delivery of world-class care by a team of multidisciplinary specialists. The Penn State Health Cancer Center offers critical services including physician appointments, diagnostic imaging, infusion, medical oncology, radiation therapy, and mammary care.

Tuskegee University Expands College of Veterinary Medicine

Tuskegee University broke ground in September of 2025 on an expansion to the College of Veterinary Medicine in Tuskegee, Ala. Designed by Flad Architects, the pioneering development will greatly expand the institution’s clinical capabilities and consolidate critical support services to a single site, increasing efficiency and ensuring the delivery of the highest level of care.

LSU Health Shreveport Plans Medical Research Facility

Louisiana State University Health Shreveport (LSUHS) will establish the Cancer and Cardiovascular Research Facility to showcase the institution’s innovative activities and groundbreaking discoveries. Representing an investment of approximately $50 million, the first phase of the adaptive reuse project involves the renovation of 60,000 sf in a former 160,000-sf department store to provide open labs, offices, education and conference rooms, and support areas.

Lee Health Constructs New Hospital on Fort Myers Medical Campus

Lee Health broke ground in January of 2025 on a 416,000-sf acute care facility in Fort Myers that will replace Lee Memorial. Representing an investment of approximately $434 million, the five-story, 168-bed hospital will accommodate 10 inpatient operating rooms, a 44-bed emergency room, and 24 intensive care unit beds. Patient rooms will integrate the latest smart technology for connected care to optimize scheduling, clinical support, and personalized interventions.
