University of Florida’s Whitney Lab Opens Marine Research Center and Sea Turtle Hospital

The University of Florida opened the Whitney Marine Research Center in April of 2026 in Marineland, Fla. Designed by Lord Aeck Sargent and TTV Architects, the $41.2 million facility more than doubles the available research space for the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience while expanding capacity for education and conservation efforts. The 38,000-sf building features 12 leading-edge labs, a dedicated microscopy area, aquaculture venues, and a maker space equipped with 3D printers and laser cutters.

University of Victoria Constructs Net-Zero Engineering Expansion

The University of Victoria is expanding the footprint of the Department of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) with two highly sustainable facilities. The CAD 89.6 million project includes the construction of a six-story addition to the ECS building to provide biomedical, geotechnical, materials, building science, and environmental and hydraulics labs. Featuring active learning venues and undergraduate design studios, the development will also house graduate student workstations, faculty collaboration spaces, computer labs, and departmental offices.

State of Missouri Builds Multi-Agency Laboratory Campus

The State of Missouri broke ground in June of 2024 on a $151 million project that will collocate five agencies in one integrated location. Designed by Multistudio, the 208,000-sf facility will provide laboratories and support spaces for the departments of agriculture, natural resources, conservation, and health and senior services, as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This centralized hub will enhance operational efficiencies by creating an ecosystem of resources that will optimize the delivery of analytical services.
