Tyco Heathcare Retail Group Occupies Henry County Facility

Tyco Healthcare Retail Group will occupy 608,000-sf of the 818,000-sf former Amazon.com warehouse facility in Henry County, Ga. The facilities in the Greenwood Industrial Park, Building 8 will replace Tyco’s 227,600-sf Atlanta distribution center when the healthcare products manufacturing firm moves to the new space in September 2003.

Analogic Corp. Builds Peabody Facility

Analogic Corp. is planning to construct an additional 100,000 sf facility on its 65-acre Peabody headquarters campus. The development will accommodate the relocation of two company divisions to the campus. Life Care Systems, a fetal monitoring division, will vacate a 41,000-sf building six miles from the Peabody campus. Sky Computers Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Analogic, will relocate from Chelmsford.

Medtronic Opens Netherlands Distribution Center

Medtronic Inc. opened its $32.1-million distribution center in Heerlen, the Netherlands, in early March 2003. The 322,900-sf center, Medtronic's largest distribution facility, will employ 700 workers and will send over 30,000 medical devices worldwide every day. Medtronic, based in Fridley, has its European headquarters in Tolochenaz, Switzerland.

Sulzer Mitroflow Plans Cleanroom

Sulzer Mitroflow Corp. has selected KTEC Cleanroom Systems of Round Rock, Texas to design, fabricate, and install a 10,000-sf cleanroom in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Replacing an existing operation in Richmond, B.C., the $1.7-million facility will act as a manufacturing plant for artificial heart valves.

Medtronic Sofamor Danek Expands in Memphis

Medtronic Sofamor Danek, a developer and manufacturer of implantable cranium and spine treatment devices, will expand its Memphis, Tenn. facilities with the addition of 100,000-sf of office and R&D space. Medtronic Sofamor Danek, a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Medtronic, currently occupies 280,000 sf in three locations in Memphis. The new facility is slated for occupancy by the third quarter of 2004.

Spinal Concepts Doubles Austin Headquarters

Medical device and spine implant company Spinal Concepts is finishing out 24,000 sf of space subleased from Sun Microsystems that will double the size of its existing Austin headquarters. Located in North Austin's Parmer Lane Business Park, the facility will provide space for expanded sales operations and product inventory. The project is slated for completion in November.

Erbe USA Builds Marietta Headquarters

Erbe USA hosted the grand opening of its new Marietta headquarters on April 5, 2002. The 24,000-sf facility accommodates 35 full-time employees and 30 independent contractors. The facility houses the North American operations of German parent firm, Erbe Elektromedizin, a privately held medical device company based in Tubingen.
