North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Completes Diagnostic Imaging Center

Published 12/12/2006

North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System has recently completed a new diagnostic imaging center designed by Swanke Hayden Connell Architects (SHCA) in Lake Success, New York. Part of the Center for Advanced Medicine, the 15,000-sf technology-rich, completely digital facility includes modalities such as MRI, CT, SPECT, PETCT, and standard radiography and ultrasound rooms. SHCA’s layout for the facility is organized with two different circulation zones for patients and staff that both access the “procedure module." This module consists of imaging procedure rooms that are serviced by a common “work core." Here, staff can keep supplies and have access to clean and soiled utilities and other required support spaces, all in close proximity of the procedure rooms, while maintaining separation from patient/traffic interaction. SHCA is currently working on two additional projects at the same campus, an 18,000-sf urology center and a 7,500-sf mammography center, both currently under construction.
