Western Michigan University’s Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine has received Engineering News-Record's best project award in the higher education/research category for the Midwest region. The facility has also achieved the Silver Project Leadership Award for the Construction Owners Association of America. Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative in association with Diekema Hamann Engineers and built by Walbridge, the Stryker School of Medicine supports an interactive pedagogy and includes formal and informal learning spaces, a 22,000-sf simulation lab, and a three-story atrium. BIM (Building Information Modeling) was implemented in the construction of the project, which utilized a team-based delivery method with project goals clearly established up front.
