Vanderbilt University Breaks Ground on School of Nursing Expansion

Published 7/17/2017

Vanderbilt University broke ground in June of 2017 on a $26.3 million expansion of the School of Nursing in Nashville. Designed by HASTINGS, the five-story, 30,000-sf addition will provide sophisticated classrooms, conference and seminar rooms, faculty and administrative offices, and a simulation training lab. The facility will feature technology-enhanced instructional spaces that promote interaction and collaboration, complemented by virtual classrooms to support distance learning programs.

Both LEED and WELL certification will be sought for the sustainably designed building, which will be physically connected to three existing structures by a five-story atrium with green rooftop terraces. The project team includes general contractor D.F. Chase, ME engineer Smith Seckman Reid, and civil engineer Barge Civil Associates. Completion is expected August of 2018.
