The University of Cambridge is planning to construct the £300 million Cavendish III Laboratory in the United Kingdom. Designed by Jestico + Whiles with Ramboll as engineering consultant, the facility will provide the department of physics with advanced research facilities including cleanrooms, cryostat halls, microscopy suites, and laser and optical labs. A basement level with sophisticated vibration mitigation technologies will accommodate sensitive instrumentation. The 430,000-sf project will include two large lecture halls, undergraduate teaching labs, a learning resource center, collaboration spaces, and a 54,000-sf campus hub. The design team includes architectural firms CH2M, NBBJ, and BDP. Completion is expected in December of 2021.
