Leeds Beckett University began construction in January of 2018 on the £80 million Creative Arts Building in the United Kingdom. Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the 156,000-sf facility will house the School of Film, Music and Performing Arts, as well as accommodating the department of fashion. Located at the heart of the Civic Quarter in the new Innovation District, the project will feature a five-story atrium, collaborative learning spaces, two theaters, a 220-seat Dolby Atmos movie cinema, and specialized studios for music, film, recording, dance, fashion, and television. The project is being developed by Downing with George Downing Construction as general contractor. Completion is expected in September of 2020.
