Ohio University broke ground in late August of 2018 on a $42.6 million chemistry building in Athens. Designed by BHDP Architecture and Flad Architects to put science on display, the 69,000-sf facility will provide labs for teaching and research, collaboration spaces, conference rooms, a shared instrumentation suite, and offices for faculty and graduate students. Gilbane Building Company is the construction manager for the project, which is slated for completion in summer of 2020. The facility is sited adjacent to the existing Clippinger building, which will be renovated in a subsequent phase of construction.
