Dixie State University dedicated the $60 million Human Performance Center in November of 2019 in St. George, Utah. Collocating academic, athletic, and recreational functions in a single integrated location, the 155,000-sf building provides learning environments, fitness facilities, and multipurpose spaces for the Health & Human Performance Department. Accommodating programs in population health, exercise science, and sports and recreation management, the center features a 50-meter swimming pool, basketball courts, a 65-foot climbing wall, a rooftop patio, and interconnected indoor and outdoor tracks. Construction began in October of 2017 on the sustainably designed structure, which utilizes HVAC heat recovery technologies and 100-percent outside air economizers to optimize energy performance. Hastings+Chivetta was the architect, programmer, and landscape architect for the project with MHTN Architects as architect of record.
