Cal Poly will break ground in May of 2019 on the $125 million William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The four-story, 100,000-sf facility represents a collaboration between the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, the College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Science and Mathematics. Featuring an expansive atrium, the interdisciplinary project will house undergraduate labs, lecture halls, classrooms, faculty offices, project rooms, a culinary lab, an agricultural technology center, a computer lab, and the Center for Expressive Technologies. The facility was designed by ZGF Architects with Research Facilities Design (RFD) as laboratory design consultant. The first $100 million phase of construction is being built by Gilbane Building Company with completion expected in fall of 2021. The second $24 million phase will include lab space for the College of Science and Mathematics, a vivarium, and a conservatory.
