Georgia Tech opened the $375 million Coda building in May of 2019. Located at Technology Square in Atlanta, the 755,000-sf innovation hub provides interdisciplinary research space for Georgia Tech's data analytics and computational science programs, as well as offering leasable offices and labs for industry partners. The 21-story tower features a central piazza with a spiral staircase leading to the Collaboration Core, a series of six three-story vertical atriums that join the wings of the building. The facility houses the school's Institute for Data Engineering and Science, the Business Analytics Center, the Institute for Information Security and Privacy, the Quantitative & Computational Finance Program, the Institute for People and Technology, and the School of Computational Science and Engineering, as well as providing space for the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Featuring an 80-20 ratio of collaborative open space to enclosed labs and offices, the building is designed with integrated research neighborhoods to promote interaction. Current tenants include WeWork, Keysight Technologies, and ThyssenKrupp, with Georgia Tech occupying approximately half of the building. The project includes 25,000 sf of street-level retail and a 98,300-sf data center. Coda was designed by John Portman & Associates and developed by Portman Holdings.
