The University of Pennsylvania broke ground in June of 2019 on the $46 million Tangen Hall in Philadelphia. Designed by KSS Architects, the seven-story, 768,000-sf building will house the Integrated Product Design Program, the Venture Lab, the Goergen Entrepreneurial Management Program, the Weiss Tech House, the Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center, and space for the Penn Wharton Entrepreneurship program. Supporting student-centered innovation and product development activities, the project will provide maker spaces, a virtual reality suite, a business incubator, co-working offices, collaboration areas, pop-up retail stores, and a test kitchen for food startup companies. The Stevens Center for Innovation in Finance, the Joshua J. Harris Alternative Investments Program, and the Jay H. Baker Retailing Center will also be located in the facility. Extensive exterior glazing set in a pre-cast concrete façade will offer intriguing views of the entrepreneurial activities occurring within. The Hankin Group is the developer for the structure. Ground was broken on the project in June of 2019 and completion is expected in late 2020. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the facility.
