The Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College are constructing the $32 million John and Mary Alford Center for Science and Technology. Located on OSU's Newark campus, the 60,000-sf STEM building will allow both institutions to expand academic programming, increase enrollment, enhance student success, and better meet local workforce needs. The three-story structure will feature a health science training center with a lab and classroom for virtual anatomy courses, as well as simulation suites for experiential training in environments including operating rooms, emergency departments, and ambulances. Offering teaching labs and learning venues for courses in biology, chemistry, physics, anthropology, and geology, the project will also house an NMR lab, two smart labs, seven research labs, faculty offices, conference rooms, study spaces, and student lounges. Occupancy is expected in spring of 2021.
