Prairie View A&M University opened the $70 million Engineering Classroom and Research Building in June of 2023 in Prairie View, Texas. Designed by Stantec to enhance student-faculty interaction, the multidisciplinary facility provides the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering with flexible environments for learning, collaboration, and discovery. Offering six general-purpose classrooms, the 106,000-sf structure features 14 teaching labs for courses in space exploration, data analytics, artificial intelligence, robotics, structural analysis, 3D manufacturing, and more. The three-story development also includes dedicated research labs for faculty and graduate students, as well as a microgravity drop tower for studies involving space-like conditions.

Illuminated by natural light, the highly adaptable facility incorporates a modular layout to allow programs to grow and change over time. Vaughn Construction broke ground on the project in June of 2021.
