The U.S. Department of Agriculture will begin construction in mid-2024 on the $160 million National Center for Resilient and Regenerative Precision Agriculture (NCRRPA) in Lincoln, Neb. Designed by HDR, the transformative development will enable the Agricultural Research Service to explore new solutions for sustainable crop production, water management, and animal husbandry. The first phase will provide 12,000 sf of greenhouse space and 10,000 sf of headhouse space that will physically connect to the existing Greenhouse Innovation Center. In the future, a four-story, 120,000-sf facility will be built to provide open lab environments for wet and dry research. This highly flexible structure will also include specialized suites for biocontainment, plant transgenics, tissue culture, and microscopy, as well as offices, mechanical equipment rooms, and storage areas.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is overseeing the planning and delivery of the project, which is strategically sited at the Nebraska Innovation Campus. The NCRRPA will foster collaboration with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which is planning to construct the Nebraska Ag-Tech Innovation Accelerator adjacent to the USDA facility.
