The Kraft Group is planning to construct a stadium in the greater Boston area for the New England Revolution, a professional Major League Soccer club. Located in Everett, the project will transform a 43-acre brownfield site with a shuttered power plant into a vibrant destination for Revs fans and the entire community. The iconic structure will feature a cantilevered roof that overhangs the pedestrian streetscape, complemented by a four-acre public park with a waterfront promenade.
An architect has yet to be named for the development, which would be located in a designated port area (DPA), a zoning that only allows for industrial uses. Approval for the new soccer stadium was advanced in November of 2024 by the Massachusetts Legislature by changing the language of the bill to remove the power plant land from the DPA. This rezoning would apply for a minimum period of five years. The bill prohibits the use of public funds for site remediation or construction, save for related infrastructure improvements in the surrounding areas. The Kraft Group must also secure community impact agreements with the cities of Everett and Boston, as well as creating a strategy with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
Driving economic growth and urban renewal, the project is part of a $4 billion bill supporting state funding for life sciences, climate innovation, and other key initiatives. Final legislative approval is necessary due to bonding measures.
