The University of South Carolina (USC) is planning the next phase of renovations to Williams-Brice Stadium to create a reimagined home for the South Carolina Gamecocks football team. Designed by Populous, the $350 million project will enhance the fan experience with additional premium areas, an updated student section, and amenity-rich concourses with modernized concessions and restrooms. Refreshed locker rooms will optimize player performance both on and off the field, and new back-of-house zones will drive operational excellence in the provision of services. Accommodating international soccer matches, high school championships, concerts, and events, this dynamic sports destination will act as a magnet for the entire USC community, the city of Columbia, and beyond.
Delivered by Contract Construction and Manhattan Construction, the transformation of Williams-Brice Stadium aims to increase athletic revenue and promote brand awareness in an era of significant growth for the industry. Legends will implement a streamlined, data-driven sales approach to advance these goals. Nations Group served as project development consultant and Elevate performed market survey and analysis services. Construction is slated to begin in early 2026, with completion anticipated by fall of 2027.
While the current initiative focuses on renovations to the west side of the stadium and improvements to student areas on the north side, the university is also considering subsequent phases. Populous has embarked a master plan that includes design concepts for suites and premium seating in the north end zone and on the east side, as well as options for the south side and the provision of further operational support.
