TerraPower Isotopes Begins Construction on Bellwether Laboratory

Published 6/18/2026

TerraPower Isotopes broke ground in May of 2026 on the Bellwether Laboratory in Philadelphia. Combined with the company’s expanding presence in Everett, Wash., the $450 million radioisotope manufacturing center will increase global production capacity for actinium-225 (Ac-225) by twentyfold to support the next generation of life-saving cancer therapies. The 250,000-sf structure is strategically located in The Bellwether District, a 1,300-acre commercial redevelopment project by HRP Group, to enable scaling opportunities through access to critical infrastructure and a robust life sciences and medical ecosystem.

The flagship facility is supported by $10 million in funding from The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and promises to bring over 225 new jobs to the area. Representing the world’s largest Ac-225 manufacturing plant upon completion, the cGMP center will provide pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with the reliable, large-volume supply needed to advance targeted alpha therapies and precision medicine solutions for cancer treatment. Gilbane is leading the preconstruction and construction phases of the project, which will be delivered as a multiyear buildout. Production is expected to commence in 2029.
