San Francisco General Hospital Plans Replacement Facility
San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center selected Jacobs Engineering Group in September of 2009 to manage construction of its planned replacement hospital. The $887.4 million facility will reach completion in 2014 with occupancy expected in 2015. The hospital will meet new state seismic requirements.
Michigan State University Opens Large Animal MRI
Michigan State University opened its $2 million large animal MRI suite in East Lansing in August of 2009. Supporting research for the College of Veterinary Medicine, the facility provides diagnostic imaging for animals such as horses and cattle. Construction began on the project in January of 2009.
New York Law School Opens Academic Center
New York Law School opened its $145 million Academic Center in New York City in September of 2009. Designed by SmithGroup and BKSK Architects with Pavarini McGovern as general contractor, the 200,000-sf facility includes five stories above ground with four stories below grade. The center houses an auditorium, a library, lecture halls, classrooms, meeting rooms, and research and practice areas. Construction began on the facility in 2006.
Via Christi Health System Builds Wichita Hospital
Via Christi Health System is building a $93 million hospital in Wichita, Kan. Slated for completion in August of 2010, the 144,000-sf facility will provide 60 inpatient beds, four labor and delivery suites, six surgical suites, a cardiac catheterization lab, emergency, and imaging. A 60,000-sf medical office building will also be built at the site.
Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Opens in Vacaville
Kaiser Permanente Medical Center will open its $500 million healthcare campus in Vacaville, Calif., in October of 2009. Comprised of a four-story, 340,000-sf hospital and a 217,000-sf medical office building, the 166-bed project features abundant natural light for optimal patient healing and PVC-free rubber flooring. The sustainably-designed medical center includes a 24-hour emergency department, a critical care unit, diagnostic imaging, and surgical suites.
