Colchester Regional Hospital Builds Truro Health Center
Colchester Regional Hospital began construction in December of 2008 on a $160 million replacement hospital in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. The 124-bed facility is slated for occupancy in fall of 2011. The new health center will provide surgical, psychiatric, maternal, pediatric, intensive care, and diagnostic treatment services. The project will include a helipad and expanded urology services.
U.S. Army Opens Sustainment Center of Excellence At Fort Lee
The U.S. Army opened the Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCOE) at Fort Lee in Petersburg, Va., on January 9, 2008. The 222,000-sf SCOE will provide headquarters facilities and administrative offices for the Quartermaster School, Ordnance School, Transportation School, Combat Training and Development, and Combined Arms Support Command. Accommodating 1,100 Army personnel, the $50 million center will house operations relocated from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Redstone Arsenal, Fort Eustis, and Lackland Air Force Base as part of the Base Realignment and Closure act.
Rolls-Royce Builds Aircraft Engine Manufacturing Plant
Rolls-Royce will build a $100 million manufacturing and research facility for aircraft engines in Prince George County, Va. Sited on 1,000 acres, the plant will start production by year-end 2009. The facility will support engine assembly and testing operations. Additional buildings may be constructed at the site in the future for a total investment of $500 million over the next six years.
Meridian Health Builds Jackson Outpatient Center
Meridian Health is partnering with developer Lillibridge of Chicago to build the 150,000-sf Meridian Health Village in Jackson, N.J. Construction will begin on the outpatient medical facility in spring of 2009 with completion slated for summer of 2010. The project will include an imaging center, surgical suites, urgent care, women’s and children’s health, laboratory, and family practice offices.
Columbia Gorge Community College Opens Health and Science Building
Columbia Gorge Community College opened its $8 million health and science building in The Dalles, Ore., in fall of 2008. The 35,000-sf facility houses four science labs, 11 technology-rich classrooms, an amphitheater, offices for the nursing program, student services, and administration.
